PR E PA R ATORY S C HO OL Meet Amy Johnson If you look up the meaning of the name Amy, you will see that it originates from the Latin amatus meaning ‘loved’. This is certainly an apt description of Amy Johnson, the Personal Assistant to the Head of the Preparatory School. Amy Johnson joined the Guildford Grammar School community in November 2014, coming to us with a strong background in administration in the insurance, finance and education sectors. In her current role, Amy provides high level administrative support to Mr Krause and forms an integral part of the Preparatory School Administration team. Amy was born in New Zealand and moved to Perth with her family when she was seven years old. The family originally intended to live in Queensland, but they soon changed their mind once they experienced the great lifestyle in Perth. The family settled in Beechboro, with Amy and her sister attending school in the area. Amy has been married to Leigh for 12 years and has two beautiful children, Samson (9) and Micah (10). Amy and Leigh met through their shared interest in motorbikes, meeting on a club outing. In those days Amy owned a Kawasaki Eliminator, which she has since traded for a more family-friendly fourwheeled vehicle! Family is by far the most important part of Amy’s life. Extremely close to her sister and parents, Amy, her husband and two children share a rural property with her parents, her sister and her sister’s children. As a very sociable and gregarious person, Amy enjoys the quality time she can spend at home with those closest to her heart. A self-proclaimed ‘foodie’, Amy organises regular family dinners, campfires and BBQs, where a cheese platter and block of chocolate is never far from sight! Amy is an active member of the Grace Life church, where she is involved with the women’s ministries as an event leader. She has recently been involved in coordinating movie nights and swap meets to raise money for community causes, whilst bringing together groups of like-minded women in a friendly, social setting. Amy’s other great passion is her beloved Labradoodles. Her interest in the breed came about as a result of her son suffering from asthma and discovering that the Labradoodle does not shed hair
