AROUND THE SCHOOL
Meet Alison Tucker, Clothing Shop Manager
Alison Tucker has recently taken up the
position of Clothing Shop Manager at the
School. Having previously worked in the
bridal sector for close to 30 years designing,
making and selling dresses in both the United
Kingdom and Australia, she applied for the
position at the School looking for a change.
Alison has lived in Australia for 19 years with
her husband and four daughters. Her second
daughter recently had pieces of her artwork
displayed in this year’s Guildford Grammar
School Art Exhibition. As an artist and an
art teacher at Swan Christian College, her
works were influenced by African culture and
inspired from her experiences volunteering in
African orphanages.
Gym and Fitness
One of Alison’s passions is being in the gym
and being healthy. She attends Sista Fitness
in Midland, a gym that is run by one the
Preparatory School mothers. Alison aims to
be at the gym at least three days a week and
her favourite classes are “attack” and Pilates.
Tennis
Alison is a huge fan of tennis. She doesn’t
play but she does love to watch. As part of
celebrating her birthday later in the year,
Alison and her husband are heading to
Melbourne to watch the semi-final and final
of the Australian Open. Hopefully while
she is there she will be able to watch her
favourite player, Novak Djokovic.
Cooking
Alison has a great interest in home cooking.
Her interest is focused on natural cooking for
medicinal purposes. Any time she is feeling
sick or sore, rather than source a pill from
the chemist, she prefers to find a recipe from
her favourite cook book that can be used

as a remedy. Aside from healthy food, her
favourite things to cook are children’s cakes
and her kids love her mango curry.
Travel
Having lived in both the United Kingdom
and Australia, Alison has an interest in
experiencing as many places as she can.
With the desire to visit more locations, she
has already covered a majority of Europe
and America and wants to visit Canada,
Japan and New Zealand next. She admits
that she is still experiencing all that Australia
has to ٙ
