ome of you may recall playing the game of
telephone when you were a kid. Remember how
scrambled the original message became by the
time it reached the last person in the telephone
line? For many years that was the way we all communicated—more slowly and more prone to misunderstandings.
I’m pretty old-school when it comes to communications. I prefer face-to-face time with you, our
donors, as I learn so much from you when we do
get together. However, I realistically know that I
can’t reach you as quickly in person as I can via
email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and the other
social media options.
I’m certainly much farther along in my way of
communicating than I thought I could be, but
possibly still not quite as comfortable with the
many ways smart phones, laptop computers,
iPads, etc. keep you connected with every aspect of
your life—whether you want it or not! While a bit
overwhelming at times, they are amazingly powerful communication tools that can change lives on
a daily basis. Like the old-time printing press that
had to modernize with the times, the Foundation
has acknowledged and come into the digital age,
too.
