ONE YEAR ARTHRITIS RESEARCH UK PRIMARY CARE A trial by a team at the Arthritis Research UK Primary Care Centre evaluating stratified primary care management for low back pain is selected as one of the most significant trials in physiotherapy internationally. The Physiotherapy Evidence Database identified the most important trials to have influenced the practice of physical therapy. The Keele trial – comparison of stratified primary care management for low back pain with current best practice (STarT Back) – was identified as one of the top 15 most significant in the world for physical therapy. OCT KEN LOACH TOOK PART IN A QUESTION AND ANSWER SESSION Ken Loach, Britain’s pre-eminent living film director, opens a new viewing room in the Media Building yesterday after taking part in a question and answer session with students and staff. Ken, who was awarded an Honorary Degree by Keele in 2009 and is giving his name to a prize for an outstanding student in MCC, said he was delighted to be invited back to Keele for the opening of the viewing room and the Q&A session. NOV STATE-OF-THE-ART LIFE SCIENCES TEACHING LABORATORY Keele is successful in a bid to receive a share of £200 million funding for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teaching capital projects during 2015-16. The University plans to use the £3,750,000 it has been awarded to build a large new, state-of-the-art, multi-user Life Sciences teaching laboratory on the University campus.
