IN THE SPOTLIGHT Natalie Ilsley > “I also had a taste of online journalism. I published four items online under my own name and one of them reached 29,000 shares. At the time, it was the fifth most shared online article. People took the time to explain to me how the editing process works and offered feedback and great advice. As I was just about to become be editor of Keele’s student newspaper, watching how a story develops and analysing the careful wording of a headline gave me insight into the editorial world. “I also learned the value of competence, honesty and open-mindedness, but the primary lesson I took away from this experience is that hard work pays off.
