AUTHOR BIOGRAPHIES
DONYIEL CARR, a native of Guyana, South
America, is currently a graduate student in
the Forensic Studies program at Stevenson
University. She received her Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Government and Politics from the
University of Maryland, College Park in 2005.
After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree, Donyiel
worked as a Conflicts Research Analyst at
Hogan & Hartson, LLP (now Hogan Lovells)
in Washington, D.C. She is currently employed as a contract Paralegal in the Legal Forfeiture Unit, Office of General Counsel Division
of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Washington, D.C. and
hopes to work as a forensics investigator after completing her Master’s
degree at Stevenson.
SPECIAL AGENT DENISE R. HARDING
CPA, CFF, CFE began her career with the
Naval Criminal Investigative Service in
September 2000. Her first assignment with
NCIS was in Upland, CA as a procurement
fraud investigator with a focus on the top 100
Department of Defense contractors affecting
the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps.
Following the September 11, 2001 attacks,
she was assigned to the Los Angeles, CA FBI Joint Terrorism Task
Force (JTTF), where she assisted with large scale investigations into
the use of white collar crimes to fund international terrorism. In
2005, she returned to the NCIS economic crimes division, stationed
at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, CA, and continued to investigate large-scale fraud cases involving U.S. defense contractors. In May
2007, SA Harding transferred to NCIS HQ in Washington D.C.
and is the Economic Crimes Desk Officer responsible for high profile
economic crimes investigations for NCIS.
COREY E. COSTA currently works for
the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”). He has also worked for a
Fortune 500 insurance company in Seattle,
Washington. He has 2 years public accounting
experience and over 13 years internal audit
experience in the securities and insurance
industries. Corey is a Certified Internal Auditor (“CIA”), Certified Information Systems
Auditor (“CISA”), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (“CFE”). He
earned a Bachelor’s of Accountancy from The George Washington
University and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Forensic
Studies from Stevenson University. The views expressed in this article

Special Agent Harding attended the University of Oregon in Eugene,
OR and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. She
worked with the Washington State Department of Revenue as a tax
auditor, reviewing and auditing accounting systems, internal controls, tax reporting and tax evasion. She is a licensed Certified Public
Accountant in Washington State, is Certified in Financial Forensics
and is a Certified Fraud Examiner.
ALEXANDER E. HOOKE, PH.D. is Professor of Philosophy at Stevenson University.
He has published two books, Virtuous Deeds,
Virtuous Persons and Encounters with Alphonso
Lingis. Recent articles have appeared in Political Theory, Basketball Times, diacritics, Journal of Phenomenological Psychology, and The
Baltimore Sun. In conjunction with Loyola
University-Maryland, he is co-founder/editor
of Proto: An Undergraduate Humanities Journal. Several of his students
have published their research in regional or national venues.
PATRICIA ELLIS, ESQ. has served in many
capacities at Stevenson University, currently as
an Associate Dean in the School for Graduate
and Professional Studies. Among her accomplishments, she has published and presented at
national conferences and has given many workshops. She is currently the Vice Chair for the
Executive Board of the Commission for Accelerated Learning and is Editor of its Newsletter.
