Why is this issue important? Not even discussing for a moment the iconic cover and artist, this
issue is the first full appearance of Venom! The black symbiote that bonded with Eddie Brock, Venom
soon became one of the most recognizable villains of the entire Marvel Universe. This issue also saw
Peter return to his classic red and blue costume only returning to the black outfit on occasion. Some
consider this book the biggest Spidey key of the Copper Age of comics.
