Upon the grassy knoll.
Stepping near intrigued by fear,
As if it had a soul.
Falls bright moon, cools crisp air,
Leaves crunch beneath my feet
The iron gate still stands,
For all that she would greet.
A feeling of respect,
For this old home I found.
As if she stands there waiting,
For those who once were bound.
Great oak limbs, as arms out stretched,
A hopeful welcome back.
She tried to keep her dignity,
But their presents she did lack.
Vines grew through the windows,
Shutters fell upon the ground.
Was such a lonesome feeling,
For no one was around.
So day by day, time goes on,
The echos she did hear,
Of little childrens laughter,
When they were once near.
