You’ve heard of the expression, “it’s a tough act to follow”. Don Knotts
was an extraordinary actor, says David Browning, who for the last 25
years has been impersonating the extraordinary Deputy of
Mayberry..........
David Browning has been helping people appreciate the skills that Don
Knotts brought into a classic town. Don, who saw David Browning
imitate him, was very impressed with his abilities. While traveling in
over 12 appearances that Don put together with David, he started the
show off before Don Knotts would come out. Don would continue a
routine from the Steve Allen show that he enjoyed doing as an early actor.
In our interview, David told me that Don Knotts was the master of the
class when it came to... entertaining people. The partnership on the show
with Andy Griffith can be compared with Martin & Lewis. Brown [
