February12th Storm came and went!
by Bobby Kiger
t has been many, many years since I last saw a snow storm
like the one we had in February. It truly has been years since
I have seen this much accumulation. The one thing that really
stands out the most to me is the fact when we woke up the next
morning the same storm was still hammering us, because most
morning afters we are greeted with crystal clear, vivid blue
skies. My friend Dale S. who resides in Westfield NC reported
15 inches. Another individual from Pilot Mountain Brandon L.
reported 21 inches. Another report from Tobaccoville, Leanne
G. was 12 inches. Angela H. of Booneville, 15 inches. Tammy
M. of Collinstown, 20.6 inches. April P. of Madison reported
9.5 inches. My late father talked of such accumulations
growing up in the late 1930s and 40s. One of the oddest snow
events I remember was in the 1960s when it snowed 3
Wednesdays in a row in the month of March! This storm has
redefined back in the day! The younger generations will now
have their back in the day to talk about.
