Gillingham Town “Gillingham Town FC is our local club; we look after the alarms there and started sponsoring them earlier this year when they had a raffle to find a sponsor. I get down to games when I can and always keep up to date online as well as receiving e-mails telling us how they are getting along. We’re proud to support the club, hope they can keep up the good work and wish them the best of luck for the future.” Jessica Lutwyche, Wessex Fire and Security This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their games will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future. This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate. Gillingham Town FC is committed to playing an important role in thei r local community and this is reflected by the fact that they also run a reserve side. This allows them to give twice as many players a chance to play the game every week. Another benefit of having an extra side is that it allows the first XI to benefit from far greater strength in depth. If they are ever left short on numbers through injury or suspension they have the option of calling up replacements with a limited amount of disruption. This is also a club that provides women in the local area the chance to play and this part of the club has been developing well in recent times. This season they have had a mixed start to their league campaign with three wins and five defeats from eight matches. This has left them sitting in a safe mid-table position. They will now be looking to put together a positive run of results as the team settles into the season and should be in with a good chance of doing just that. It will certainly be exciting to see how they get on. There is much to admire about the fine set up that Gillingham Town FC currently has in place as they continue to play a vital role in their local community. Hopefully they will be able to continue in the same manner for many years to come and everyone at Football Focus Magazine would like to take this opportunity to wish them the best of luck. It was something that we were keen to do and we always hear positive reports from Patrick Fricker about how they are doing. I really admire Patrick’s enthusiasm and genuine commitment for the club and I’d like to congratulate them on the new grounds. I wish them every success for the future.” www.footballfocusmag.com 59
