Gillingham Town FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/FOOTYFOCUSMAG Gillingham Town FOOTBALL CLUB Gillingham Town FC was first established on 14th November 1879 and has gone on to put together a history of which they have every right to be proud since then. One of their most successful periods came in the mid-1960s when they won the Dorset League four times in five seasons. Since the turn of the century they have claimed one League Cup in 2001/02 and one Dorset Senior Cup in 2009/10. Their current group of players will be looking to add to these successes over the coming years. They are based on Hardings Lane in Dorset and their first team currently competes in the Dorset Premier League. They are led by Chair Patrick Fricker who is supported by Secretary Roger Monksummers and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. So far this season the time has made a promising start to their league campaign, having put together a record of eight wins, two draws and four defeats from their fourteen matches. This 58 Issue 75 has left them sitting near the top of the table with 26 points on the board. This should provide them with a solid platform from which to build as they look ahead to the rest of the campaign. As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and can perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be in with a good chance of mounting a serious title challenge. One of the highlights of the team’s performances this season has been the attacking brand of football that they have been able to produce. This has been reflected by the fact that they have found the back of the net 40 times at a rate of more than two per game.
