Bridport FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/FOOTYFOCUSMAG Bridport FOOTBALL CLUB Bridport FC was first established on the 7th October 1885, playing in a variety of leagues in their early years including the Dorset League, the South Dorset League, the West Dorset League and the Perry Street League. Since then they have gone on to put together a history of which they have every right to be proud, joining the Western Football League in 1961. They then left the league in the mid- eighties, instead playing in the Dorset Combination, which they won on three occasions. They then returned to the Western League in the First Division, clinching a return to the Premier in the 1993-94 campaign, going on to enjoy eleven straight years in the top flight. The club has had some memorable Cup 14 Issue 75 runs in their history including three terrific performances in the FA Vase, reaching the Fourth Round twice and the Fifth Round once during a four year period starting in 1987. The club’s best run in the FA Cup came when they reached the Third Qualifying Round in 1957-58. The current group of players will be keen to add to these successes over the coming years. At present, they are based at St Mary’s Field on Skilling Hill Road and their first team competes in the Premier Division of the Western League. They are led by Chairman Adrian Scadding who is supported by Secretary Heather Scadding and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. So far this season their first team has made a steady start to their league campaign, putting together a record of five wins, two draws and four defeats from their eleven matches. This has left them sitting in a safe mid-table position with seventeen points on the board. This should provide them with a good platform from which to build as they look ahead to the rest of the campaign.
