Based in Gateshead in the North East of England, PPL
produces four UK magazines as well as the recently
launched Australia/New Zealand version of Sport in
Profile. Our five titles are Cricket Club, Football Focus,
Rugby Club, Sport in Profile and Sport in Profile ANZ.
FOOTBALL CLUB
Football Focus Magazine is committed to providing the
footballing world with a platform from which to share
ideas, best practice and information with content
provided by many leading figures within the industry
including Chairman, CEO’s, Presidents and Managers
of some of the top sporting establishments worldwide.
A major part of what we do is providing grassroots clubs
with a chance to highlight the work they are carrying
out with a focus on community involvement, youth
development, sound financial planning and sporting
success. The crucial role that these establishments
play in the industry cannot be overstated and they
regularly provide stories of astounding commitment,
dedication and integrity.

With the transfer window closed (finally) the focus of the football season can now turn to the actual playing of
the game. The latest edition of Football Focus Magazine brings you the story of East Kilbride Thistle who enjoyed
promotion last season on the back of five years of progress.

club playing an important role in their
local community by providing people
with the chance to enjoy the game in
a safe environment. Football Focus
Magazine recently caught up with Club
Representative Dave John to find out
more about the good work the club has
been doing.
He told us, “I’ve been with the club
for twenty six years now. To be honest
with you I enjoy everything about the
club because there are some great people
here. In football it is the people that make
the game; there are good times and bad
times and it is a really nice group here
that creates a community in itself.”
“Our policy has always been that we
don’t pay money so we have to produce
our own talent. We have around twenty
teams up to about sixteen and when they
get to U18s they join the senior club and
we work hard to bring them through.
What happens is when we get talented
players someone comes in and offers
them money and they move on which
can be difficult.
“Our facilities are some of the best
in the county because that is what we
choose to invest in. When I first joined
