FOOTBALL CLUB Proud sponsors of Gainsborough Trinity FC Gainsborough Trinity FC was first established in 1873 as Trinity Recreationists, having been set up by the Holy Trinity Church for young parishioners. Since first being established the club has gone on to put together a history of which they have every right to be proud. T: 07909 771 996 / 07859 932 041 W: www.wews.biz | E: [email protected] In 1889 they joined the Midland Counties League and lost their first match 2-1 to Lincoln City before going on to claim a seventh place finish. They quickly built a good reputation in the local area and went on to win their first Midland League championship in 1890/91. The current group of players will be keen to build on the club’s history over the coming years. At present, Gainborough Trinity’s first team plays their home games at The Gainsborough Martin and Co Arena in Lincolnshire and competes in the National League North. They are led by Chairman Richard Kane who is 18 Issue 74 supported by Secretary Matt Boles and the club is looking to progress under their guidance. Last season it would be fair to say that their first team had a disappointing campaign and spent much of the season in danger of relegation. However, they managed to avoid dropping a league by a single point and have been working hard during the off-season to make sure that they improve this time around. So far this season it would be fair to say that they have not perhaps gotten off to the start that they would have liked, having put together a record of two wins, two draws and seven defeats from their first eleven league matches. This has left them sitting in the bottom half of the table with eight points on the board. There is still plenty of time for them to turn things around however and a couple of good results would see them quickly climb the table. As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and can perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be able to push on from their current position. This is a club that is committed to development and they state on their official website www. gainsboroughtrinity.com, that, “Our vision is to be the Destination Club: the place where the very best people come to join our ongoing pursuit of excellence, unity and success.” “Gainsborough Trinity FC will be the ultimate destination for fans and local communities, known for its unrivalled loyalty, pride, passion and commitment to its family values. “For our players and coaches, we will be the professional destination for exceptional leadership, achievement, performance and development opportunities. “Our corporate partners will know Gainsborough Trinity as the commercial destination for strong community engagement, commercial growth and business to business opportunities. Our Board, staff and executive team will know us as the destination for personal empowerment, growth and unity.” Although results on the field have not been great there is clearly a lot of good work being carried out at Gainsborough Trinity FC. Football Focus Magazine wishes them the best of luck for the future. www.footballfocusmag.com 19
