“ The mood is very upbeat at the club at the moment . I think we ’ re set up to improve on last year ’ s performance and are confident we ’ ll do reasonably well .”

He told us , “ I ’ ve been involved with the club for thirty nine years . It has been great to see the progress we ’ ve been able to make , moving from a park pitch to having our own ground . It is a lease hire ground and we ’ ve been here for twenty five years . On the pitch we ’ ve moved up through the leagues and are proud of that .”
“ The mood is very upbeat at the club at the moment . I think we ’ re set up to improve on last year ’ s performance and are confident we ’ ll do reasonably well . Preseason has gone well and we ’ ve had a lot of new players down . I ’ d like to see us get into the top six in the league and if we can have a good run in the Cups as well , particularly the Vase , we ’ d be very happy .
“ We only have a small number of volunteers but I have to say the group that we ’ ve got is terrific . A lot of work has gone on in the last five weeks to sharpen the place up and so from that point of view it is all looking good for the new season .
“ One of the biggest challenges for us as a club is staying in the Premier Division of the Combined Counties League . The reality is that we ’ re only a small club with no big fan base ; we ’ re just a small band of people doing our best .
“ It is also very important to keep our finances balanced . It is very costly running your own ground and so it has to be carefully managed . A good run in the Cups can really help us in that sense , particularly the FA Cup .
“ Over the coming years I would like the club to be able to stay where it is . Realistically , without a major influx of money , we wouldn ’ t be able to compete at the level above so we ’ re focused on doing as well as we possibly can whilst remaining financially sustainable . The main thing is that the people are enjoying their football and if we can have a few good cup runs on the way we ’ ll be very happy .”
“ This is my first season of sponsoring the club ; I have known the Secretary Tony Hurrell for many years and because I always usually support local charities , I decided to sponsor Colliers Wood United .
Big enough to cope small enough to care .
I sponsor the kit and am currently First Team Manager having taken on the role to help Tony out in recognition of all the work he has undertaken at Colliers Wood over the years .
It is a nice community club with a strong family ethos and hopefully we can build on the good work that ’ s been carried out – onwards and upwards !”
