FOOTBALL CLUB
R
edbridge FC has some exciting plans in place for the future and
has put in place a strong committee to help the club progress. We
recently caught up with Press Officer Alan Silver to find out more about the
good work the club has been doing lately.
Involvement
He told us, “I have been involved
with the club since late 2001 when I was
working with a colleague who played
non-league football for a local team to
where I lived called Ford United. I knew
the ground and had an interest in non-
league football so decided to go and
watch him play - the rest, as they
say, is history and nearly sixteen
years later I’m still here in my
official role as Press Secretary/
Website and Programme
Editor.
I’m a West Ham United
fan and had been going for
many years but soon got the
buzz for non-league, the
fact that you get to know
the supporters by name, chat
with players and managers
etc. is a million miles away

I can announce goal scorers. A fun thing
I often find is having to pronounce some

has a good committee around him. We
were relegated two seasons ago from
the Ryman League so last season was
always about stabilising and finding our
feet in the Essex Senior League.
Our inconsistent form let us down as
we would beat a top side one week and
then lose to a lower side the next match.
We were however involved in some
entertaining matches with lots of
goals scored but overall I would
say - Average 5/10.
The managers are putting
together a strong squad with
several new signings and
holding onto some of last
season’s squad, hopefully
we will be able to push as
high up the table and who
knows with it possibly
promotion.”
Present
“The club is in a good place at the
moment; our chairman has got big plans
for the future both on/off the pitch and
“Youth football is vital to
our club’s future and we have
a very strong youth structure
in place headed up by our youth
development officer Tony McGrath.
We currently have a range of boys sides
starting from U13 up to U18s and have
future plans to have younger sides
associated with us.
Generally, if the managers feel a
player from one of our U18’s teams is
good enough then they are certainly
