Lyne first ever County Cup victory and secondly as there were three hundred of our junior members there to celebrate with us. Added to that, this season we won the League once again, gaining yet another promotion to step 8 football. With the club now having an established men’s side which our youth players can progress to the pathway within the club is near complete. I say near complete as in future years we would like to add an U18’s side and reserves to make the transition to men’s football as smooth as possible. We would consider Lyne F.C to be a community club as we work very closely with two schools; in the playing season Jubilee High in Addlestone is our home and our summer training takes place at Pyrcroft Grange School, Chertsey. We take great pleasure in using school facilities as its sort of cool that a football clubs money is going back into the very same schools our members attend or have attended. Furthermore, we are looking at doing after school soccer clubs at various schools in the area which can only be good for schools, pupils and club alike. One of the biggest challenges I would expect in the coming years will be achieving the ground criteria’s the F.A set out for senior football. The men’s section is very successful and has the potential to push on to step five very quickly but, without the lights, stands and so on we won’t be able to progress in years to come. It’s such a shame that a football team’s progression can hit a brick wall without land and money. I suppose one option will be a ground share going forward but obviously, that comes at a price as well. In the next five years, our ambition would be to have a minimum of two teams at all ages from U7’s through to our men’s section, put more coaches through their level two and above coaching badges, see our men’s section playing football in the Combined Counties League and most of all ensure the club is connected, continuing our galvanising of the whole club from our soccer school to men’s! So, in our tenth anniversary year we have come a long way, achieving many club goals, winning many a trophy and gained many plaudits but we still have a lot to do on and off the pitch.
