FF : What are your plans for the rest of 2017 ?
AP : We are continuing to grow , the first team have a new manager , and the club have new coaches . We are pleased to announce a brand new physio ; Gary Ricketts who is a local qualified physiotherapist with the experience to provide a quality service to our lads . Gary will be at all our training sessions making sure we are fit and ready for August 12th .
Behind the scenes we have secured ourselves a new treasurer and we are pleased to announce John Murray OBE will be taking up the role . With these new additions we find ourselves working hard on preparations for the coming season . This includes building new dug outs , campaigning for sponsorship and most importantly getting in good shape to hit the ground running and hopefully starting the season with two wins . FF : How important is youth football to the club ?
AP : Very important in the long term and as the club becomes more successful and progresses towards the Western League we aim to establish a full junior structure . At the moment , we are just seeing some of the local youth players who are finishing junior football taking interest in our new club and we couldn ’ t be happier .
For these young men making the transition between youth and adult football can offer up a variety of challenges , however , at Nailsea & Tickenham FC we offer support and advice to all our players . The club is diverse with a mix of experience and offers a safe place for footballers to develop and play football .
FF : How do you ensure that young players enjoy a smooth transition into the senior game ?
AP : Recently we have seen several players who are due to say good bye to their youth playing days . Prior to this concluding the players were welcomed to training and given the opportunity to spend time with the senior team .
Allowing the boys to begin integrating with the club allows for them to establish orientation and removes any feelings of possible anxiety . With these boys having been allowed this chance come July when preseason begins they can arrive with confidence with fewer barriers to learning thus providing our coaches the best chance to develop the boys .
FF : Would you consider yours to be a community club ? of football in the town as well as providing for the Juniors , youth and female footballers . The community already support us whether this is coming to watch the football , sponsoring our kit or coming to one of our fundraising events .
We are well known for our shows which see hundreds of people outside of the club get involved . We have sold out auditoriums to the local community to raise money and we love providing that . Thank you to everyone in Nailsea , Tickenham and beyond who have supported and will continue to support us , we love you !
FF : What do you believe could be some of the biggest challenges the club may face in the next 5 years ?
AP : Undoubtedly , our biggest challenge will be the destiny of where we will be playing our football . There are offers in place to build houses on our ground . The positive if this happens is that the developers will relocate us , something that is exciting but brings with it a great deal of work . If this opportunity comes about we can expect new facilities which would support our aspirations and assist us in our growth .
FF : What are the clubs ambitions for the next 5 years ?
AP : Our ambition is to become an established Western League Club and compete in the FA Cup and FA Vase competitions , giving the people in Nailsea and Tickenham , a local football club to follow and be proud of !
AP : This is something that we feel very strongly about and our long term aim is to be a club that offers the highest standard
