Alfold
Alfold Sports and Social Club is the headquarters of
Alfold FC. The club is run by voluntary members and has a
number of affiliated other clubs including Cricket, Stoolball,
Tennis, Darts and Bar Billiards.
The football facilities are second to none in the area with
two excellent pitches that are kept in immaculate condition, a
clubhouse with bar and Sky Sports. The dressing rooms have
been totally refurbished to a very high standard with the help
of the Football Foundation Grant.
In May 2015 the new extension to the pavilion was officially
opened by Ann Milton, Conservative MP, Caroline McRoyall,
Chief Executive Officer Surrey Football Association and ASCSC
Chairman Kevin Deanus. The project was made possible by a lot
of hard work by Football Club Secretary Wayne Mouring and
a £67,000 grant from the Premier League and the FA Facilities
Fund.
The refurbishments includes four large changing rooms with
showers and toilets, two rooms for officials also with showers
and toilets, wheelchair accessibility and a baby changing room.
Club Secretary Wayne stated, “It shows that if you are
prepared to put the work in, there are organisations willing to
help you achieve your dreams”.
Season 2016-2017
This season was a little disappointing for the 1st Team, with
injuries, non-availability, and work commitments affecting
the manager’s team selections. However after the Annual
Presentation Night the general mood was very encouraging after
the report about the clubs intentions for the next season with new
players already wanting to join the club.
The 2nd Team however did very well after gaining a double
promotion from Division 3 (North) to Division 1 (North).
Saturday morning youth teams use one of the pitches and maybe
when the time comes AFC will benefit from these young players.
Season 2017-2018
The preparations for the new season are well under way.
In May the pitches were topped dressed and fertilised. New
fencing will be shortly be erected around all of the pitch. New
managers and coaches for both teams have been appointed
and a brand new set of kit purchased.
At the Southern Combination Football League Annual
Awards held at East Sussex National Golf Course Alfold FC
received a presentation for achieving 3rd place in the Respect
Merit Awards for the second season running.
