Often you forget how big we have
become but if you pop along to the
Stadium of Light on a Saturday the
amount of SCJ Bobble hats you see
on heads of parents and players is
amazing. Everyone has really took the
clubs philosophy to heart and we have
always said it’s the volunteers, players
and parents who make our club what
it is, without committed parents/
grandparents/guardians the children
can’t play football and enjoy making
these life long memories so for this we
are truly thankful.
We have tried to involve our club
in the local community from the first
day we were formed and we are very
active with charity work, we have been
involved in the following:
Remembrance Day Tournament -
Football Tournament ran and all cash
raised was donated to the Poppy Appeal
Christmas Collections – our teams
collected toys and food for the people of
Sunderland, these were passed over to
the Salvation Army, Elim Street church
food Bank and also two visits to the
Children’s ward of Sunderland Hospital
took place to hand over presents to the
poorly children in hospital.
White collar boxing – Our Coach
Darrell took part in a white collar boxing
event to raise cash for Cancer research.
We also ran a Football Tournament in
which all proceeds were also donated
to Cancer Research UK. Due to our help
Cancer Research said we could now
wear their logo on the back of every
match day strip.
Smiles 4 Jayne Tournament - Over
44 junior teams coming together for a
football tournament with all proceeds
going to St Benedict’s Hospice in
Sunderland who cared for a close friend
of the club during her unfortunate
illness.
We also like to support other great
events in our local area and beyond and
this has seen the club sponsor a local
charity football match to raise new funds

for a church roof, we have carried out a
shirt and boot collection and had these
sent off to Africa via KitAid.
When the club carried out the
fundraising for St Benedicts Hospice,
we visited the centre to donate what was
raised and we were supported by Barnes
Junior school whose Head Teacher Mr
Simon Ward allowed some of the pupils
who play for the club time out from the
school day to pass over the cheque and
tell the staff there how the cash was
raised.
Moving forward it is the clubs
ambition to find a permanent home. We
would love to be able to acquire a piece

Tiles recently told Football
Focus Magazine, “We were first
approached by Phil when he
founded his first team and have
sponsored Team Porterfield
ever since. We’ve been able to
provide them with coats, strips
and tracksuits and Phil always
keeps us up to date with how
they are getting along.
We are proud to sponsor them
and it is fantastic to see what Phil
has done with the club. It really
is an amazing club and we wish
them loads of luck in the future.”
