Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with their Chairman Mick Clarke to find out more about the good work the club has been doing lately. He told us, “As a Chairman I have been involved with Clubs since 1995. Over the last six years I’ve worked with Scott Marchant and Ben Kneller, our joint first team Managers, Ben as a player and Scott as a Manager.” “Scott phoned me three years ago after taking on the job of first Team Manager for Hamble F.C. When I turned up at the ground In June, the pitch was overgrown, you could not see the Training Pitch and the changing rooms (Portacabins) were falling apart, but there were some good points, one was that Scott and Ben are both winners as Managers, they get 100% respect and the other good point was that the local Council of Hamble had set up a Peppercorn Lease for 25 years at £1 per year – without these two points I would have walked away. “The first thing we had to do was get Local Planning for a Stand, Floodlights, new changing rooms and Hospitality. The buildings and the stand were not an issue but the floodlights were a nightmare. We had to prove there were no bats in the surrounding trees and then get a Professor to represent us at a meeting with the local Planners, eventually the lights were accepted. 16 Issue 73 “We played one season on a pitch alongside ours while the building works were completed. We now have a very high standard pitch and facilities. During this first season we won the Hampshire League, League Cup and got to the final of the Southampton Senior Cup at St.Mary’s. “In the Season 2015/16 we had a good cup run but only managed 3rd place in the League.
