playing to anyone within the area. We have club golf days, the sports
dinners stated earlier, and regular family fun days at Meadow Lane.
One of the most enjoyable events we host, are our high profile home
matches, when we have our under 7’s and 8’s as mascots for both
teams. They get to walk out with the players, watch the match and
take home a goodie bag at the end.”
Challenges
“Our facilities at Meadow Lane are a challenge for sure. We are
incredibly lucky that the club own Meadow Lane, but being a nearly
100 year old ground, this does present some difficulties. Particularly
our changing room facilities which are in need of modernising.
We aim to do this over the closed season ready for next year, but
effectively are putting shiny plasters over things that need rebuilding!
As always running a semi pro football club, finances are also a big
challenge.
We want to grow and develop the club and ultimately get promoted
and beyond. With this comes the challenge to sustain revenue into the
club to fund this growth. Both myself and Greg are confident we have
the foundations and the people in place to make sure we can support
this growth and continue to build on what we have achieved so far.”
Ambitions
“Our ambitions are to reach the Southern League, develop a new
club house at Meadow Lane, become an integral part of Westbury’s
community, and most importantly, nurture and develop young talent
in the town and surrounding areas, and watch them succeed at the
highest level of football possible, whether at Westbury or even higher!”
