FOOTBALL CLUB
A
shington Rovers FC is a club playing in the West Sussex Football
League. Although there was a team before the war we have officially
been going since 1945. We are very lucky to have people who give up their
free time to run this club. Manager Mick Flynn has been with us for eight
seasons and this season he has been helped by Matt Squires, a player that
has now taken up the role of assistant manager.
Club Chairman Robin Botting has
done this role for 10 years. Nicola Crabb
is club secretary having taken on the role
halfway through the 1995/96 season just
to help out and has been doing it ever
since. Vic Crabb has been with the club
for many years, once a player (having
to give up through injury) and has done
many other roles including managing
32 Issue 72
and admin roles. He marked the pitch
out every home game up until the season
before last when Nicola took over the job.
His wife Barbara Crabb has washed the
kits for nearly as long as Vic had been part
of the club and is still doing it.
We are a club that mainly funds itself
although we have been lucky enough to
have companies pay for kit. This season
the home shirts have been sponsored by
M.R.B Property. The away shirts are by
Penfold Verrall and Aqua Serve kindly
donated some money to allow us to get all
the boys training tops.
Barry Golds who is club captain,
having his own business B.I.G gardening
services, has also kindly brought kit for
the club. We would be very grateful to any
