Airbus UK
Broughton
FOOTBALL CLUB
First established in 1946, Airbus UK Broughton FC has played
under a number of different names in their history including
Vickers-Armstrong, de Havilands, Hawker Siddeley, British
Aerospace and BAe Systems due to changes in the factory name.
For much of the club’s history they
competed in the Cymru Alliance which
is the second tier of Welsh football. The
club were promoted to the Welsh Premier
League in the 2003/04 season and have
enjoyed 13 consecutive seasons in the
Welsh Premier League since.
Perhaps the most successful period in
the club’s history started in the 2011/12
74 Issue 71
season when they finished seventh in
the league and also made it to the semi-
finals of the Welsh Cup. This was just the
starting point as the following year they
went on to finish in second place in the
league to claim their first ever place in
Europe.
The following year they continued
their good work, finishing as runners
up to TNS once again and ending up an
impressive eleven points clear of the club
in third place. They will now be looking
for a return to these kind of performances
in the coming years.
At present, they play their home
games at the Hollingsworth Group
Stadium and their first team competed in
the Welsh Premier League in the 2016/17
