Rick Kennett ’ s under 16 ’ s also just won the Arun & Chichester Youth League ‘ C ’ Division , with a couple of their players alongside our under 18 ’ s experiencing reserve team football this year , which is great to see .
We successfully renewed our FA Charter Standard status for the third year running , with our youth teams now included within the certificate and enjoyed Football Foundation ‘ Grow The Game ’ grant success in increasing local participation through two new youth teams – which is really the club of the future . All our teams are now aligned at the same 3G training pitch at a local school , which again helps with transition between our sides .
FF : How would you say the season has gone for the club so far ?
SJ : Obviously winning the League it ’ s fair to say the season has gone very well for us , as the last couple of games has brought increased interest in the side , which is fantastic to see . The reserves stepped up to a higher standard in entering the Wyvern League which has been a good experience in playing on pristine playing surfaces most weeks across Hampshire ; games at places like Dorchester Town in the cup – playing at a 5,000 capacity ground , with the match filmed – these things don ’ t happen too often for our village club , and we only lost 2-0 against a side four-rungs higher than us in the pyramid .
It ’ s been a challenging one at times too , as we ’ ve realised it ’ s been difficult to compete , and we ’ ll do what ’ s right for the club in terms of where they play next season .
