FOOTBALL CLUB
Chippenham Town FC has enjoyed a fine campaign this time around, finishing the
season as champions of the Southern Premier League. We recently caught up with
Club Representative Wil Hulbert to find out more about the good work the club
has been doing lately.
Involvement
He told us, “My father (announcer),
uncle (president of the original supporters’
club) and grandfather (committee
member) were all involved in various rolls
at the club. My grandfather, a plumber,
put in the large stone bath in the dressing
rooms in the 1930’s (obviously no longer
there). It was therefore inevitable that my
interest would follow.
I
remember
writing
about
Chippenham Town FC at junior school in
the early 1960’s. When I was eighteen the
club put out an appeal for more committee
members so I joined and was appointed
assistant secretary. I had to relinquish this
position when I went to college in London,
and joined the re-formed supporters’ club
in 1998. I subsequently became chairman
of the supporters’ club for twelve years
before becoming Press Officer four years
ago.”
