Barnstaple 01271 345738 Tiverton 01884 252500 www.wtrl.co.uk The club was first established in 1904 and were founder members of the North Devon league, winning the competition in its first season. They went on to win the league again in 1908-09. The club enjoyed a sustained run in the Western League top division after winning the Western League in 1979-80 under joint managers Brian Hill and Dave Baglow. After suffering relegation in 1990- 91 they made it back to the top division in 1993-94, remaining there until 2013. Barnstaple Town has enjoyed plenty of success over the years, winning the Western Football League Premier Division twice and the current group of players will be keen to add to these successes over the coming years. Their success has not been limited to the league format of the game however with particular success experienced in the Devon Pro Cup which they have won on thirteen occasions. In terms of individual matches, their biggest win was a 12-1 victory over Tavistock in 1954. Their current group of players will be keen to add to these successes over the coming years. This season, it would be fair to say that their first team did not perhaps enjoy the campaign that they would have liked, having put together a record of thirteen wins, six draws and twenty two defeats from their forty one matches played to date. This has left them sitting in the bottom half of the table with forty five points on the board. Their attention will now have turned towards the off-season and making sure that they are able to improve next time around. As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and can perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be in with a good chance of pushing on up the table. Barnstaple Town FC is a club that has put together a history of which they have every right to be proud over the years. As long as their committee continue to work as hard as they have been lately they should be able to look forward to a bright and successful future for many years to come. “Barnstaple Town FC is a club that has put together a history of which they have every right to be proud over the years.
