opportunity when at all possible . This year we have introduced a new reserves team into the Hellenic League . This side consists of primarily youth players looking to make the transition into senior football and we are extremely pleased with the progress they have made .”
Community
“ Easington Sports FC is very much a community club . The majority , if not all of our players , parents and supporters live locally . On match days you can often find local spectators , youth players and previous ESFC players giving their support at Addison Road .
We are supported by local businesses who sponsor a number of the teams and we work in partnership with local businesses where possible for ground improvements . In addition to this , we regularly allow for our facilities to be used by the local community whether it be social functions in the clubhouse , or hosting local area football matches .”
Facilities
“ We are lucky with our playing facility , mainly thanks to the hard work of Richard Meadows and others , that our pitches are in fantastic condition . We have also undergone some recent clubhouse improvements which have included new doors and CCTV installation . This was as a result of three burglaries which occurred last summer .
However , as with many facilities , our clubhouse is in need of modernisation . The showers in both changing rooms require an upgrade , as do the kitchen facilities and new tables and chairs are required in the clubhouse for up to 80 guests . We would like to be in a position whereby we can comfortably provide match day hospitality to visitors to Addison Road , whether that ’ s guests from the Hellenic League or youth teams in the MJPL . Ultimately we would love to expand our facilities , including clubhouse , to ensure that our facilities are reflective of the growth on the pitch .”
Youth Tournament
“ Our Annual Youth Tournament is due to take place on the 3rd and 4th June 2017 for teams aged between Under 7 – Under 12 . Last year we attracted 80 teams and this year is set to be even bigger and better . So far applications have been received from teams in Oxfordshire , Northamptonshire , Berkshire , Buckinghamshire and Gloucestershire .
We are set to welcome over 2000 visitors to Addison Road during this period so it is an excellent opportunity to promote the club . We are also looking to local companies to help sponsor the event and a number of sponsorship packages remain available . This is a huge event for the club and one which all of our coaches / parents / volunteers look forward to .”
Challenges / Ambitions
“ As with many local youth teams , retention of teams over the ages of Under 14 remains a challenge . We hope that by providing a clear pathway into senior football , creative and challenging coaching and a club spirit we can overcome this .
We hope to continue the growth that we have made in recent years . We would like to sustain the growth of the younger age groups , increase the number of 11 a side teams and increase the number of girls teams . We would also be looking at the introduction of a ladies and disability team . We would also like to push Easington Sports as the lead for futsal in the local area .
At the heart of this growth is the development of our coaches and we are keen to develop our coaches mentor programme . In terms of facilities , we will continue to look for support from the Oxfordshire FA and other agencies to develop Addison Road and review all available options re development . Ultimately , we want local players playing in a safe , challenging and fun environment at all levels .” www . footballfocusmag . com 17
