FOOTBALL CLUB
Buxton FC is a fine example of a progressive establishment with some
exciting plans in place for the future as they look to make football accessible
to all. Their first team currently competes in the Northern Premier League
and they are based at the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
So far this season they have put together a
fine campaign, having compiled a record of
seventeen wins, ten draws and ten defeats
from their thirty seven matches. This
has left them sitting in ninth place in
the table with 61 points on the board.
They are still very much in
touch with the teams above them
and a good run of results would
secure a place in the play-offs.
This would give them a great
chance of achieving promotion
and there is confidence among the
players that they have the ability
to do just that.
It has also been an exciting time
for the club off the field as they were
recently able to announce a stadium
sponsorship deal with Tarmac Cement.
The deal sees the ground renamed the
‘Tarmac Silverlands Stadium’.
Speaking to www.buxtonfc.co.uk their
Chairman David Hopkins said, “We are delighted to be
partnering with such a large and respected local business and
employer. We are immensely proud to have the very strong Blue
Circle brand associated with our ground and look forward to
working with them moving forward.”
Kevan Greenhalgh Packed Business Manager from Tarmac
Cement added, “We see this as a real opportunity for us to
engage with the local community. Buxton Football Club is in
the heart of the town and has a strong loyal following. As a
large local company we feel that it is important to support the
communities where we operate.
“When David approached us with this idea we soon saw the
benefits this could bring Tarmac Cement. Buxton Football Club
are currently enjoying a strong run in the Evo-Stik Northern
Premier League and we wish them every success for the
remainder of the season.”

This is just one part of the club’s plans to
progress and they were also able to unveil
plans to install an artificial pitch to enable
them to facilitate football for all ages and
abilities. It is hoped that the pitch will
be ready for the 2018/19 season.
David Hopkins told their
official website, “With such a well-
positioned facility in the town
it is so frustrating to us all at the
club that for the vast majority of
the time our main asset, the pitch,
cannot be used as we have to work
hard to protect the surface for the
First Team, which of course is not
always easy in Buxton.”
“As the leading football club in
the immediate area we should do more
to engage with the town, and during
my time at the club it has been a constant
frustration that we have been unable to offer
our facilities to the broader wider community
