This will certainly have meant that any supporters attending their matches will have been well entertained and should encourage more of the local community to get behind the side in the future . This in turn has the potential to provide them with a valuable source of additional revenue which is particularly important in the current financial climate .
Sean Cooke has been a major part of the side ’ s success going forward and this is reflected by the fact that he has notched an impressive 21 times . Having a reliable goalscorer that can make the difference in close games is vital for any side . He has been well supported by both Ryan Brooke and Steve Jones who have 11 apiece .
Off the field the club is able to boast some fine facilities at the Weaver Stadium which was opened in 2007 at a cost of £ 4m . The main stand is the Baker Wynne & Wilson Stand with a seated capacity
of around 300 people . It also houses the club ’ s offices , club shop , changing rooms and function room as well as refreshment facilities .
There is much to admire about the fine set up that Nantwich Town currently has in place and the hard work being invested into the club is being rewarded with some fine results on the field . If they continue in the same manner they should be able to look forward to a bright and successful future for many years to come .
“ My earliest memories of ‘ The Dabbers ’ were around 1982 when I followed them with a group of friends . On one particular Saturday my friend and I travelled up to Penrith for the away game on the team coach . As we were only 14 years old , we were looked after by Albert Pye and Neville Clarke .
Unfortunately , we became detached from the main group and were found and chased by Penrith youths who ran us around the town and eventually to the ground . We finally got back with the main group and Albert kept an eye on us from then on .
Sadly that friend died in 1999 and it was then out of homage to him that I decided to follow Nantwich Town forever !
Obviously , winning the Cheshire League and FA Vase , getting promotion from the NPL First Division South and the team ’ s first ever appearance on the FA Cup First Round are great moments in the history of the club , but with the great people connected with the club right now , I am sure memorable days are ahead .”
