“One of the highlights of the team’s performances has
been the attacking brand of football that they have been
able to produce. This has been reflected by the fact that
they have found the back of the net 81 times in the league
alone at a rate of nearly two per game.”
At present, the club is based at
The Weaver Stadium, Waterlode in
Cheshire and their first team competes
in the Northern Premier League Premier
Division. They are led by the team of
Chairman Tony Davison and President
Frank Blunstone and the club has been
making a considerable amount of progress
under their guidance.
The team enjoyed a terrific campaign
last time around with one of the
highlights being their superb run in the
FA Trophy. They made it to the quarter
finals of the competition by accounting
for teams including Ashton, Matlock and
46 Issue 70
Stourbridge before beating Conference
Premier side Dover 2-1 to make it to the
semi-finals.
They then took on Halifax FC in the
semi-final over two legs but were defeated
6-4 on aggregate. The home leg attracted a
bumper crowd of 2,078 which is a record
for the Weaver Stadium. They enjoyed
a strong league campaign but narrowly
missed out on the play-offs finishing in
eighth position with 75 points.
So far this season, the team has
continued where they left off last time
around and are enjoying a fine campaign.
Up to now they have put together a record
of twenty two wins, eleven draws and
nine defeats in the league. This has left
them sitting in third spot with 77 points
on the board.
They will now be looking to finish
off the season with a good run of form
to clinch a play-off spot. If they can do
so their good form in cup competitions
should give them plenty of confidence as
they look to clinch promotion.
