We do not have one or more large sponsors ... we have many sponsors who contribute a bit, all of which covers our running costs in order to keep the club afloat. This in itself presents all kinds of challenges with attracting or retaining players because at the end of the day, just like in the professional game, money talks now. FF: What are the clubs ambitions for the next 5 years? MT: In an ideal world we would like to see some significant ground improvements which will help to attract more supporters and more sponsors all of which will enable us to generate more revenue to fund further improvements. Once we can maintain that we hope to have recruited more committee members and possibly start to see the establishment of some sort of youth set up. If we can do that, then we can try and set our sights on attracting better players, developing our own youth players and trying to push up the league pyramid. It’s ambitious, but believe me, if you had spoken to me 12 months ago I would have told you I was worried about the future of the club – we have come a long way in that short time, and although only very small steps have been taken, there is an opportunity to move forward now. www.footballfocusmag.com 41
