astwood Community FC is a fantastic example of the
important role that a club can play in their local community.
Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with their Chairman
and Joint Owner Jamie Bennett to find out more.
He told us, “I have been involved
with the club since its inception in 2014.
ECFC was born from the downfall of
Eastwood Town FC. The club originally
set up with a first team competing in the
Central Midlands South League (Step 7))
and has grown to having a full player

pathway from U6 to Adults with a full
time Football and Education Academy for
our 16-19 year old players.”
“The most rewarding role at this club
is seeing it grow and flourish in a short
space of time. It is great to see so many
people using the facility and benefiting
the whole community. The biggest
challenge is controlling expectations that
are derived from the previous club’s level
of play. We are ambitious as a club, but
our progress will be done in a sustainable
manner.
