FOOTBALL CLUB

estbury Youth Football Club was established in 1992 to provide organised football to the youth of Westbury and the surrounding area . Over the years the Club has grown and has an active Club Committee developing the Club for the benefits of its members , the children . They started with 69 children and currently have around 300 members in 18 teams ranging from U7 ’ s to U16 ’ s including a thriving girls section . Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with their Chairman Greg Coulson to find out more about the good work the club has been doing lately .
Atmosphere
He told us , “ The mood around the club is really positive at the moment ; I have just taken over as chairman so this has given new drive and motivation to the committee . Our links with the adult team Westbury United are stronger than ever and we have created a real pathway for players to move into the adult game .”
Present
“ The season is going well , we ’ ve attracted some new volunteers and whenever I attend matches that involve our teams the atmosphere seems to be good and the kids are left to enjoy the game . As the new chairman I am developing our focus to concentrate on coach development , we aim to invest in education for all our coaches which will result in better quality , safer sessions being delivered to all our teams .”
Youth
“ As a youth club we have the responsibility to develop the supply of players to Westbury United , but also to make sure that we develop the social and psychological skills of our players . Not every youth player will continue playing football when they ’ re an adult but they will all become part of the society so we aim to develop better rounded individuals with good social skills that will help them in life .
We aim to help every player to fall in love with the sport , if they don ’ t want to play the might want to coach or referee or get involved on the medical side , at an all-inclusive football club it is not all about developing football players .”
Integration
“ We have a very strong relationship with Westbury United . Our U16 ’ s train at the same time as Westbury United first and Reserve teams and as soon as the lads reach sixteen they ’ re encouraged to get
