Felling Magpies
Site Development
Felling Magpies have recently signed the lease for Wardley Welfare land . The proposal is to develop a community football ground and associated facilities . This is an exciting time for the club and something we have longed for . We are in a period of transition from one area to another and bringing the whole club to the site .
The support from the parents and local community has been fantastic ; I always talk about how they make the club and they do , they are the heart and soul , the black and white army driving the success . Alongside this we have a fantastic set of players who are a joy to work to work with .
Vision Statement The aims of the project are :
• To create new community football facilities to enhance the development of Grass Roots Football in Felling / Wardley and the Gateshead area more broadly .
• To deliver priority outcomes for Durham County FA , and in particular retaining and creating pathways for players ( from the age of 3 years ) to actively participate in sport , developing the necessary skills , motivation and confidence to succeed in later life , encouraging new participation ( women / girls , mental and physical disability ), and development of adult small sided , 9v9 and 7v7 football .
• To generate wider community benefit through football , sport and non-sport activities , particularly in the areas of health and well-being , education skills and employment , social inclusion and volunteering .
• To create a sustainable community business model for ongoing delivery of these aims long term .

Ambitions
“ It is our ambition to build the club from its current size to numbers in excess of 500 players . We want to secure funding for facilities such as full size 4G pitches and allow outside representatives to rent the area in order to use and benefit from the facilities making it available to the wider community . We also aim to develop through Sport England Funding , Football Foundation and inspired facilities further changing rooms , classroom facilities to include video capabilities as well as meeting room , catering and physiotherapy facilities on the existing site . Finally , we are looking to create the opportunity to bring in Disability Football to the area .”
First Aid North-East enjoys a growing reputation in the North-east of England and Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with their founder , Chris Bull to find out more . He told us , “ I set the business up around six years ago ; we ’ ve been full time for about three years now . We ’ re a local , family run business and we ’ re getting to a point now where it is really busy as we build our reputation .”
“ There are two first aid qualifications in particular that meet the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive and they are some of the most popular that we provide . Our ethos is first and foremost to make sure that the course is informative but we also work hard to make sure it is a relaxed environment ; we want people to enjoy the course that we put on .
“ We aim to continue to grow over the coming years but only at the right speed for us ; it is vital that we maintain the same level of quality as we provide now , continuing to build a reputation as the First Aid Trainer that you can trust .”
