Gorleston FOOTBALL CLUB

Gorleston FC is based at Emeralds Park , Woodfarm Lane in Norfolk and their first team currently competes in the Premier Division of the Eastern Counties League . They are a fine example of the important role that a club can play in their local community .

They played their first competitive game on 10th November 1888 when they took on Beccles Caxton in the Suffolk Senior Cup , losing 1-0 . They won their first trophy in the 1906 / 07 season when they won the Norfolk Junior Cup . They then became founder members of the Great Yarmouth Borough League and were crowned Champions in the first season .

The club has been crowned champions of the Eastern Counties League on four occasions and also won the ECL First Division Knockout Cup . They have always had a special affinity with the Norfolk Senior Cup , winning it an incredible sixteen times .

So far this season their first team has enjoyed a fine campaign , having put together a record of nineteen wins , four draws and three defeats from their twenty six matches . This has left them sitting near the top of the table with sixty one points on the board .

With games in hand on their title rivals , a good run of form could see them top of the pile before long and they are in with a great chance of winning the league . There is a confidence among their players that they will be able to complete the job .
