This has left them sitting in second place in the table with 64 points on the board and a great chance of getting promoted at the first team of asking . Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with Club Secretary Trevor Brock to find out more about the club .
He told us , “ I have been involved for 36 years . I was previously Secretary of Horndean and was approached to join Havant who were clearly a more ambitious club . The most challenging part of my role is helping to keep the club capable of winning promotion back to the National League . The most rewarding will be achieving promotion .”
“ The mood here is excellent . Relegation was a shock to the system and some hard decisions had to be taken in the last close-season . We went for a more local side . This season things have been going really well with the team being in the top four all season .
“ It is important now to keep our minds firmly on the task of getting promotion . The club Directors , led by Chairman , Derek Pope are an experienced bunch . We have the tools to manage the task .
“ Youth football is very important to the club . We run an Academy in conjunction with Southdowns College for ages 16-19 . They play in the National League under 19 ’ s and are currently 2nd in their division .
“ The manager , Lee Bradbury works hard on giving young players an opportunity and we reserve County and Local Cups for giving half a dozen Academy youngsters a chance to play competitive men ’ s football alongside first team players . “ We have a really successful community set-up “ Hawks in the Community ”, run by Shaun Gale , that does everything from Holiday Soccer Schools to Walking and Disabled Football .
“ Our biggest challenge over the coming years will be finding the resources to enable the club to seriously challenge for promotion to the National League top division . We would like to be a fulltime club competing at the top end of the National League . We already have an A graded stadium so the facilities are already good enough .” www . footballfocus . biz 59
