Erith and Belvedere FOOTBALL CLUB

irst established in 1922 , Erith and Belvedere FC came to exist following the restructuring of Belvedere and District FC . The new team played its first
Kent League match on 26th August 1922 when they were beaten 3-1 by Chatham .
One of their most successful seasons in the early years came in 1924 when they won the Kent Amateur Cup , made it to the final of the FA Amateur Cup and took on Reading in the FA Cup .
In more recent times , perhaps their most successful season came in the 2012 / 13 campaign when they completed a memorable League and Cup double . In 2014 / 15 they enjoyed their best run to date in the FA Vase when they reached the quarter finals . The match attracted a bumper crowd but the side lost to eventual winners North Shields .
At present the club plays their home games on Park View Road in Kent and their first team competes in the Premier Division of the Southern Counties East League . They are led by the team of President Larry O ’ Connell and Chairman John McFadden and the club is looking to progress under their guidance .
Having finished in 16th place last year it would be fair to say that their first team has not perhaps enjoyed the campaign that they would have liked this time around , having put together a record of five wins , five draws and sixteen defeats from their twenty six matches . This has left them sitting near the bottom of the league with twenty points on the board .
There are still plenty of games left to play and the team will be looking to put together a good run of results in order to pull away from the bottom sides . As long as they are able to retain their current group of players they should be in with a good chance of doing just that . This would also help them to build momentum going into the off-season when they will look to prepare for their 2017 / 18 campaign .
Erith and Belvedere is not a club to focus solely upon their senior section however and this is reflected by the fact that they also run a number of youth sides . These players look to provide young players from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential .
It is important for any club looking to be successful over a sustained period of time to be able to produce their own talent and this is an area that they appear to have covered . It will certainly be exciting to see how their youngsters can progress over the coming years .
Although Erith and Belvedere FC has not achieved the results it would have hoped for at first team level this should not take away from the good work being carried out at present . If they continue in the same manner they should be able to look forwards to a bright and successful future for many years to come .
