Selby Town FOOTBALL CLUB

Selby Town FC was formed in 1919 , adopting the nickname “ The Robins ”. The first senior club in the town since World War 1 , a year later in 1920 they became founder members of The Yorkshire League and are the only club to have played all 62 seasons .

The team ’ s most successful periods came in the 1930 ’ s and 1950 ’ s when winning trophies became a bit of a habit ! The 30 ’ s saw The Robins win the league three times , The West Riding Trophy three times and the League Cup .
The 50 ’ s saw the club win the League twice , triumph in the League Cup twice and reach the first round of the F . A . Cup four times ! They also recorded the clubs highest attendance of 7,000 in 1954 when they played Bradford Park Avenue in the F . A . Cup 1st Round .
Football Focus Magazine recently caught up with Secretary Thomas Arkley to find out more about how the club is getting along at present . He told us , “ I first got involved with Selby Town when I replied to an advert asking for a new secretary for the 1999 / 2000 season . I have been secretary ever since .”
