Wealdstone FOOTBALL CLUB

First established in 1899 , Wealdstone FC began life playing in Division 2 of the Willesden and District League , finishing 6th the following season in Division 1 . They experienced their first success when they became league champions of the first division of the Willesden and District League . Since them they have gone on to put together a history of which they have every right to be proud .
One player to have played a major part in that history is Charlie Townsend who holds the club record for number of appearances made , making his final appearance in 1971 in what was his 514th game for the club . George Duck holds their record for most goals scored , having found the back of the net 251 times between 1972 and 1979 .
Last season the club enjoyed a fine run in the FA Cup , making it to the first round where they took on Colchester United . They competed well in the first half , going in level at 2-2 at half time with the visitors scoring four after the break to run out comfortable winners .
They are currently based at The Vale in Ruislip and their first team currently competes in the Vanarama National League South . They are led by the team of Chairman Peter Marsden and President Paul Rumens and the club is looking to progress under their guidance .
So far this season they have put together a steady campaign , having compiled a record of ten wins , seven draws and eleven defeats from their twenty eight matches . This has left them sitting in a safe mid-table position with thirty seven points on the board .
They will now be looking to put together a good run of form over their remaining matches in order to finish as high up the league as possible . As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be well set up to push on next time around .
Wealdstone FC is not a club to focus solely upon their senior section however and this is reflected by the fact that they also have a thriving youth set up . This part of the club looks to provide young players from the local area with an opportunity to play the game in a safe and enjoyable environment whilst helping them to reach their full potential .
It is important for any club looking to be successful over a sustained period to be able to produce their own talent , particularly in the current financial climate and this is an area they appear to have covered . It will certainly be exciting to see how their youngsters are able to progress .
There is much to admire about the fine set up that Wealdstone currently has in place and this is thanks to all of the hard work that has gone into making them a success . Hopefully they will be able to continue in the same manner for many years to come .
