exclusive to Swalwell Junior members , it just happens that lots of the children that have worked with Alan , want to continue with him after they have moved into teams . Currently , there are evening coaching classes running for 6-7 , 8-9 , 10-11 and 12-14 year olds in the Dunston and Whitley Bay areas ( check out www . tikitakasoccerskills . co . uk for more details ). Once again , children of any football ability are welcome to come along and improve their skills , earning their badges as they progress .
At Tiki Taka Soccer Skills children are trained , tested and rewarded for their hard work , achieving up to 48 Skills Badges in 8 different categories ( Defending , Dribbling , Fast Footwork , Freestyling , Passing , SAQ , Shooting and Turning ). These badges really focus the children , as they play against each other ( and themselves ) to see who is the most skilful , the best dribbler , best defender and more . And as they are learning in a fun and friendly environment , without any unnecessary pressure they don ’ t realise how much they are taking in . Alan regularly runs courses for children during school holidays with an emphasis on fun .
As with the Tiki Taka Soccer Skills school , Swalwell Juniors is all about everyone enjoying playing football , as we try to keep our teams together from an early age and give them the continuity of the same managers and coaches all the way through their time at Swalwell . We do not believe in doing trials and discarding ‘ so called ’ weaker players ; the only times that we need to change any of our teams is if we lose a
player or when our teams move up to the next stage of football ( i . e . 5-a-side , 7-a-side , 9-a-side or 11-aside ).
And our philosophy appears to be working , as just recently two of our players have made the huge step of signing their first professional contracts with two of our local clubs . Mitchell Curry has recently signed with Middlesbrough FC and Daniel Barlaser has also just made his professional debut , putting in a fine performance for Newcastle United , in their
3-1 FA Cup 3rd Round Replay victory at home to Birmingham City . Hopefully this is just the tip of the iceberg with our long-term coaching plan producing many more professional players .
Swalwell Juniors Club chairman , Ian Buchanan said , “ Our five year plan is to continue to work with any person or organisation that is willing to work with us . Our 200 + young people and local community deserve the best facilities that we can give them .”
We always encourage parents , supporters and the general public to join us socially in our clubhouse . As with other organisations , money is in short supply and we are looking for companies or individuals who wish to sponsor the whole club or parts of it . It ’ s always a challenge to keep everything running smoothly but , as long as everyone is enjoying playing football , that is all that matters to Swalwell Juniors FC and Tiki Taka Soccer Skills .
