walwell Juniors FC is a local FA Charter Standard football club based in
Derwenthaugh Park , Blaydon that was formed over 20 years ago . It helps boys and girls of any football ability , from as young as 3 years old , to develop their skills and enjoy playing the beautiful game .
We are lucky to have some excellent facilities at our disposal , which include a large clubhouse that can cater for 220 people ( and is free to hire for functions ), ample car parking spaces , four floodlit , 5-a-side courts and two football pitches , one of which is floodlit and has staged many county cup finals . We are selffunded and have the help of our many volunteers , but club and grounds are in need of a bit of improvement in the coming years , so it would be nice to find some grants or sponsorship towards this aim .
From a playing point of view , we currently run three football development classes ( check out www . swalwelljuniors . com for more details ) on Saturday mornings for Nursery ( 10-11am ), Reception ( 11-12pm ) and Year 1 / 2 children ( 12:30-1:30 ). This has proven very successful , as it gives the children the perfect schooling and pathway into local youth football . Everyone is invited to join a team if they want to . We currently have over twenty boys , girls and mixed football teams .
We have an excellent reputation for Key Stage 1 football development , which has been proven time and time again , especially this year with over 12 of our current Under 7 ’ s being selected at their individual schools to train with either Newcastle or Sunderland based on their skills alone .
Our head of football development , Alan Birkett , actively overviews the early development stages of our 3-6 year olds prior to them joining a team . He then continues to develop all aspects of their game at the Tiki Taka Soccer Skills Football School .
