Youth
“ Youth football is huge to Hartley and plays a massive part at the club . Luke Tuffs and Eric Howard who head the Youth team programme take great pride in developing players . We want to provide each of our Youth players with the ability to step into senior football , hopefully our first team . We attract some great local talent because of the way in which we run things - we have some very exciting players .”
Integration
“ We have the luxury of having a reserve team , so there are stepping stones into first team football . With that , our managers are continually looking at those players who are performing well or even just demonstrating the right attitude . We then invite players to train with the senior sides so that they can get a feel for the tempo and expectation level . From that point on , it ’ s about finding the right time to give them an opportunity and ultimately for them to take it .”
Community
“ The football club is a massive part of the village ; it ’ s the heart of Hartley . There ’ s nothing quite like going into the clubhouse on Saturday afternoon and seeing the locals enjoying themselves , it ’ s always such a terrific atmosphere . There is always something going on at the club .”
Challenges / Ambitions
“ I think for any club at our level the biggest challenge will always be securing sponsorship and funding . It ’ s expensive to run a football club , especially if you have ambition to progress through the leagues . We ’ re working hard at the moment to ensure that , should we be in a position to gain promotion , that the ground is ready for the next level - not a cheap process ! We want to be an established step 4 side , once that is achieved we ’ ll look at where we can go . Ultimately we just want to squeeze the most out of every opportunity .”
