Atmosphere
“ The mood at the club in general is very good ; we have a great set up at Sherwood Colliery and our home ground Debdale Park from the chairman down everyone works for the same goal and that is bringing success to the club .
The club have plans to develop the ground and its complex which currently offers other sports including hockey , cricket and both Sunday and junior football and there is talk of a ladies team joining the fold over the next few seasons . This has allowed us to apply for
community club status through the FA and both our adult and youth set up are charter standard in their own right .”
This Season
“ The season has started well for the club with the groundsman doing an amazing job on the pitch which has in turn allowed us to play some good attacking football in our matches . The club entered the FA Vase for the first time this season and reached the 2nd Round proper , narrowly losing away to step 5 club Westfields FC from Hereford 3-2 .
Prior to the Westfields game we had beaten higher league opposition including Clipstone FC ( NCEL Prem ) 1-3 and Penistone Church 1-2 ( NCEL Div 1 ). The 1st team and manager Wayne Savage ( HGV driver ) take each game as it comes concentrating on those 3pts . It ’ s a long hard season in a very good step 7 league , probably the best step 7 league in the country in my opinion and you never know what the next game brings but we will continue to work on a game by game basis . The lads train hard and are enjoying their football and fingers crossed come May we are in the running for promotion .”
The Reserves
“ The reserves have had a great start to the season under new manager Scott Rogers , Scott is an ex player who returned to Sherwood Colliery at the beginning of the season to take over the reserves having previously been Heanor Town Reserve Manager the year before but Heanor decided to disband the reserves and go with an U21 set up instead .
