By the 2014 / 15 season the club was providing junior football to around 250 children as well as 40-50 that were attending the kindergarten sessions . Since first being established they have provided football to over 600 children in total and plan to continue to expand . At present they play at the Adel War Memorial Association on Church Lane and their teams compete in the Garforth Junior Football League . They are led by
Section Head Darren Needham who is supported by Secretary Caroline Skingle and the club has made a considerable amount of progress under their guidance . For football to flourish it is vital that the next generation of players is attracted into the fold and
this club clearly does an outstanding job in that regard . This would not be possible without the hard work that the club ’ s volunteers put into making it a success . So long as they continue in the same manner in the coming years then the club and football in the area as a whole is sure to have a bright and successful future .
Sam Adams of sponsor Education Works Ltd recently took the time to tell us more about the company and his association with the club saying , “ Education Works Ltd is the U16 shirt sponsor for the 2016 / 17 season . We are a Skipton-based company that supports mathematics and school improvement at primary school level , plus speaking and listening approaches and literacy across the primary and secondary age ranges .
“ One focus for the company is to make Maths real – we write for an audience and for a reason , how often do children use maths in this way in primary school classrooms ? Education Works supports schools to give their maths a context .
“ Football has been a useful way to get some of the trickier Maths concepts across to children e . g . numbers in the millions by using transfer fees during the Transfer Window , percentages – with the children becoming football agents and comparing players statistics in Fantasy Football teams – which team is better and why ( statistics and averages – the mean )?
“ My son , Thomas Adams , first played for Leeds City Juniors in the 2012 / 13 season – making 17 appearances and scoring 2 goals – mainly playing as left-back . Over the course of the last few seasons , Tom has played in a number of positions – left-back , left side of midfield , central midfield , central defence and occasionally goal keeper
“ Tom has started this season in the centre of defence . There is a good atmosphere within the club which means that the group of players are supportive of each other . Parents / carers appreciate the time and effort that past and present coaching staff have put / are putting in to ensure that the lads receive regular training sessions , support in matches across the season and an annual awards ceremony at the end of the campaign .
