This has left them sitting in a solid mid-table position with thirteen points on the board. They will now be looking to put together a good run of results in order to push on up the league. As long as they are able to retain their current group of players and can perhaps make one or two quality additions they should be well set up for a successful campaign. Club Representative Mark Fitton took the time to tell us more about the club, saying, “I’ve been actively involved with the club for around 12 years, having watched on and off since being a boy. I love the character of non-league football, where you are much closer to the game and you can actually make a difference. “Like all non-league clubs Ashington can be difficult to run. We have a good team off the pitch running the club. It is extremely rewarding when the team win and it is great to be involved in some of the more community facing aspects of the club. “We are absolutely a community club. The club tries to be at the heart of the community. We often get involved in charitable activities and try to support other local organisations where possible. www.sportip.biz 13
