The club started the first season with just 1 boys’ team which has steadily grown to the 14 teams which started the 2014-15 campaign, including boys, girls and men’s senior teams. This season has also seen the club link up with 2 local schools including a school for children with disabilities that will see the club establish the first disability football team from Ashington for the 2015-16 season. The club gained the FA Charter Status only a few months after being formed and is working alongside the Northumberland FA to move up to Development Status by the beginning of next season and to achieve Community Status within 2 years. With the club having its most successful season in its history the atmosphere is buoyant with teams already in 4 cup finals and all doing well in their respective leagues with the possibility of a few league titles. There have been many challenges over the years, whether it be as a Secretary, Coach or any other role within the club. In rising to these challenges the reward is nothing less than spectacular when you see young children proudly wearing the clubs strip, playing football with a smile on their face makes the hard work and difficult challenges all worthwhile. Now that the club is well established and has a firm foundation we can push the club further and as part of that the club will be changing its name to Ashington Town Football Club for the start of the 2015-16 season. This will allow people to know where we are from and continue the proud heritage that football has in Ashington. The outlook for the club has never looked so good with a large number of pro-active parents, fantastic and dedicated coaches and most importantly over 140 children from ages 6 to 18 years old that give their all week in week out, no matter the weather or winning or losing. The ambition of the club is to “With the club having its most successful season in its history the atmosphere is buoyant with teams already in 4 cup finals and all doing well in their respective leagues with the possibility of a few league titles.” AE Phoenix Juniors Club Info - www.clubwebsite.co.uk/aephoenixfc - Twitter : @AEPhoenixFC - Founded 2005 58 Issue 54
