U7s to U10s will be held on the 5th June. A good time is sure
to be had by everyone involved as they celebrate what they’ve
accomplished over the course of the season.
Bamber Bridge’s commitment to playing an important role
in the local community is highlighted further by the Annual
Football Tournament at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium that they
host. The Under 12’s competition will be held on the 7th May this
year with 6-a-side games taking place whilst the Under 10’s will
compete a day earlier in 7-a-side matches.
Competitions such as these provide a great platform for
young players to demonstrate their skills and are always an
enjoyable experience. There is a lot of work that goes into making
sure that they run smoothly and the volunteers at Bamber Bridge
do a fantastic job of laying on such a great spectacle.
There is much to admire about the superb work that Bamber
Bridge JFC has been doing lately and club’s such as these are
absolutely crucial to the longevity of the English game. Everyone
at Football Focus Magazine would like to take this opportunity
to congratulate the club on their fine work and wish them the
best of luck for the future.
have also made the final 13 times more. Their 3-2 victory over
Saltash United was the club’s first appearance in the final of the
competition since 1972 whilst their last appearance was in 2011
when Bodmin Town emerged victorious 3-2.
Over the years they have had many terrific players represent
the club and one who stood out was Mike Bickle who broke the
South Western League scoring record with 65 in a season. The
following year he bagged himself 89 goals including 9 against
Nanpean. Bickle got his reward with a move to Plymouth Argyle
in 1965.
A club that achieves the longevity of St Austell certainly
doesn’t do so without having a superb set up off the field and
their current Committee continue to do everything possible to
help them to progress. In recent times they have put a lot of work
into improving their facilities with the introduction of floodlights
at a home game against Buckland Athletic in front of a crowd of
556.
There is much to admire about AFC St Austell and it is great
to see such a likeable club being rewarded with some superb
results on the field. Football Focus Magazine would like to take
this opportunity to congratulate them on what they’ve achieved
in the past 125 years and also wish them the best of luck for the
future.
