Farnborough FOLLOW US ONLINE TWITTER.COM/FOOTYFOCUSMAG Farnborough FOOTBALL CLUB F arnborough FC is a club that is committed to playing an important role in their community and although they are going through a difficult period at present but thanks to the hard work of those involved they should be able to look forwards to a bright future. Chairman Simon Gardener took the time to tell us more. He said, “I first got involved with Farnborough Football Club during the 2011/2012 season as part of the new management team to the first team. When I was told of the opportunity to join such a great club there was no thinking time to be taken, it was instant. The mood here at present is one of both frustration and uncertainty regarding the future of the club. The frustration side is the players and management team are working hard both on and off the pitch but when it comes to match days just seem to be falling short. Getting beat and being told by the opposing club how on earth did we beat you is heard far too much. I’m sure along with myself at this moment of the season, the odd you were so lucky to win that would sound a whole lot better. The uncertainty factor is with the club up for sale continuing reports of deals and interested parties looking to buy the club build supporters hopes up along with everyone connected with Farnborough. Together we will support this great club and work hard until such time a new owner takes control. We at Farnborough feel the youth is a very important part of the club. Financial problems that the club finds itself in are not ideal for giving the youth section the full support it deserves. The gap between the main club and its youth section is in my opinion too big and needs to be addressed. It’s important to give the youth section and all the players both boys and girls the chance to feel part of the main club. Farnborough Football Club is very much a community football club and thanks to Mark McGowan and his team of volunteers we are going into schools and have set up a school of the week.
