Farnborough
FOOTBALL CLUB
F
arnborough FC is a club
that is committed to playing
an important role in their
community and although
they are going through a
difficult period at present but thanks
to the hard work of those involved
they should be able to look forwards
to a bright future. Chairman Simon
Gardener took the time to tell us more.
He said, “I first got involved with
Farnborough Football Club during the
2011/2012 season as part of the new
management team to the first team.
When I was told of the opportunity
to join such a great club there was no
thinking time to be taken, it was instant.
The mood here at present is one of both
frustration and uncertainty regarding
the future of the club. The frustration
side is the players and management
team are working hard both on and off
the pitch but when it comes to match
days just seem to be falling short.
Getting beat and being told by the
opposing club how on earth did we beat
you is heard far too much.
I’m sure along with myself at this
moment of the season, the odd you were
so lucky to win that would sound a whole
lot better. The uncertainty factor is with
the club up for sale continuing reports
of deals and interested parties looking
to buy the club build supporters hopes
up along with everyone connected with
Farnborough. Together we will support
this great club and work hard until
such time a new owner takes
control.
We at Farnborough feel the youth
is a very important part of the club.
Financial problems that the club finds
itself in are not ideal for giving the youth
section the full support it deserves. The
gap between the main club and its youth
section is in my opinion too big and
needs to be addressed. It’s important
to give the youth section and all the
players both boys and girls the chance
to feel part of the main club.
Farnborough Football Club is very
much a community football club and
thanks to Mark McGowan and his team
of volunteers we are going into schools
and have set up a school of the week.
This allows kids to visit on
